12-30-04 - OK, I'm back. This is a picture of the cover for the
new CD "Knob Salad"!
12-1-04 - YIKES! I haven't updated this page in a long time.
I've just finished a NEW CD! And it is available by email
request only right now just click on the CD below to order. Available
at CDBaby.com &
Rosevears Music soon. Stay tuned... More to come including mp3
files of the new CD. Wow!
This is the best stuff I've heard from you yet. - Les Blue.
3-21-04 - Recorded cello/string parts on healer song
"inmate" Saturday morning. Mixed "Healer" tunes Saturday &
Sunday.
3-19-04 - Been busy laying down tracks for the latest
Thumper/BP recordings. Basic guitar, bass & drum tracks are
finished for two new songs. I'm not sure what they are going to
be called yet. Bass, keyboards, guitar, percussion overdubs are
coming along nicely. Still a lot to do. Organ solo is needed
pretty bad and I'm not cutting it... Hmm. We'll see what
happens.
3-10-04 - Well, the days have come & gone since the last
update. New tunes are slowly progressing. Recorded the Seattle
band "Healer" over the weekend. We had a lot of fun recording
music tracks live in the studio and over dubbing vocals. Tracks
will be mixed this week hopefully. These guys are a great bunch
of fellows. Look for them at the Central tavern this weekend.
The
music just keeps coming so stay tuned... BP.
Saturday - 1-31-04 - Finished bass tracks for a new BP/MP song
that will be on the upcoming CD. Thumper and I will be in the
studio recording more drum tracks tomorrow... some people are
into the super bowl but we know where the cool shit is
happening... stay tuned.
Sunday
1-11-04 - Recorded about 5 drum tracks today with Thumper. Not
sure which ones are going to be used on the upcoming CD yet. But
a few of them sounded pretty good. I've got a little noise
happening on a couple of tracks that I never noticed earlier
during tracking so this may preclude a track or two. Stay tuned
it should be some good, high energy fun. Nice job Thumper!
See you in a week or so...
1/9/04 - Not much going on tonight. Lots of snow. Started
sifting through material for a CD for friends and family that
will be sort of a BP musical history. Things like my first ever
multitrack recordings, old Sabre & Nykko recordings, jam
sessions with friends, and other fun stuff. It should be really
funny to listen to. Also worked on some guitar overdubs for the
MP/BP project. Drum tracks this weekend.
1/8/04 - Well it's the new year. We had a quite mellow one
around here at Blairnt Central. Sun. 1/7/04 recorded and
arranged "How do you feel now?" I started out with some
live tracks with MP who shall remain unnamed on drums and myself
BP on bass. After dissecting and extracting about 6 min. worth
of cool sounding stuff I quickly went to work. First looping a
little drum riff, then adding piano, strings, and some guitar
lead. This goes on for about eight measures. After breaking a
string the tune kicks in with some bass, drums, and guitar power
trio stuff. Mmm... kick ass shit. More to come...
12-26-03 - Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas... Here now,
the news. It's done. The Yakima Chimps have just finished a new CD called
"Drive". For those of you who never made it to the shows at the
legendary Cube the CD will contain a live set from 1998. The
rest of the CD is unreleased material recorded over the last
year.

There
may even be some more music on this CD that isn't
listed here... Sometimes folks hide things on the
end of CD's. I remember one time somebody put this
scream before a song that was hidden on the end of a
CD and it scared the heck out of me, but anyway I'm
not saying that this CD has a scream hidden on the
end of it. Or even a song for that matter. But if it
did it would be kind of a bonus huh?... some
unexpected music hidden after the dead air. Just
laying in wait for the un assuming listener who left
the CD playing after the last song had ended... I
don't mean to hint that this CD has anything like
that. But if it did you would get another song... my
friend Don Stone might trade guitar licks with with
me if there where. I'm not saying that there is or
anything but if there was another song called "Among
Friends" all of this may be true. Don't get me
wrong. I'm not saying that this CD contains anything
like that.

Some notes
about the music on DRIVE.
Paintings of Naked Women - Some thoughts on
Censorship is what this song is about. Paintings was
recorded in my dining room that was set up to look just like
a studio to my wife's bemusement. I thought a 32 channel
mixer & some racks of gear was much better then a dining
room table. This did not last. The song was built off of a
guitar lick and in the end became a song. BP plays all
instruments in this one.
Joey likes It - This song was improvised live in the
studio with Lance on drums and BP on bass for the basic
tracks. Later we had Tim Pitts play some guitar solos. The
song starts with Tim & BP grooving until Joey walks in. They
then take a left for bluesville with both Tim & BP playing
some harmony guitar. After this BP recorded some keyboard
horns & organ. BP also employs the stunt guitar on
this one. Recorded during Nov. & Dec. 2003 at Blairnt
Central.
The Unilateral Suite - First of all the Chimps have
been dismayed, mystified, shocked... & awed, saddened,
astounded, flabbergasted, embarrassed, and just generally
disgusted with the state of our own governments foreign
policy. In particular GW's unilateral agenda. We are good at
blowing things up and not really getting to the foreign
policy root of the problem. So we took
some of GW's finest quotes and wrapped them all up into a
musical joy (or unjoy) ride. This song was recorded during
Nov. & Dec. of 2003. With BP & Lance improvising the bass &
drum parts live in the studio at Blairnt Central. Later
guitar, strings, organ, piano, sax, horns, percussion, GW
voice, synth pads, walky-talky, E-bow, Cable static wah,
small arms fire, explosions, and other noises were
overdubbed. Just give some a try... you'll like it.
Everywhere - This song was recorded by BP in the
dining room studio.
Drive 4x4 - The YC had a guest drummer out one night
to the studio. This is the sound check. The un-named drummer
who shall remain nameless due to silly record contract
agreements was doing a sound check and BP captured every
moment of it. 3:34 minutes worth of moments to be exact. BP then
overdubbed stuff. Thanks Mike. Can't tell you his last name
or I'd have to kill you. Oh, he's gonna be a rock star
soon...
Royal Trude - For those of you who do not know what a
royal trude is, it is a fly. A fly fishing kind of fly.
Music & Fly fishing, doesn't get much better. I recorded
this little ditty one Sunday on a very rainy December
day. The melody reminded me of fishing with a royal trude on
the Lamar river in Yellowstone National Park. Which in turn
reminded me of tying a royal trude. Which in turn reminded
me of my buddies on the
Virtual Fly Box.
So if it weren't for my friends on the
VFB list this
song might not exist. This song is for them.
For Christmas - Recorded in Dec. 2003 for Christmas
by BP.
LIVE at the Cube - Recorded sometime during 1998 at
the Cube... hmmm. could be wrong. I'll have to check with
Lance on the official date. The live sessions were by Lance
& BP with an amp about as big as your thumb and a set of
DW's. The old Steve is ranting in the middle of the song
about talking and nobody listening. The new Steve isn't as
good as the old Steve so the new Steve isn't included in
this song but we've still got some of the old Steve so it's
OK. The song goes through a few twists & turns then rounds
out with the Chimps famous action adventure theme "Action
Stations".
Among Friends - If there were a hidden track on this
CD it would include Don Stone & BP. I'm not saying that
there is a hidden track but I might have some notes right
here if there were.
11-17-03
- Update. Recorded basic bass & drum tracks for the new
"Yakima Chimps" CD over the weekend. Ended up getting
a pretty good bass sound using the Fakenbaker through the hartke
both direct & with an Audix D3 close mic. The drum sound in
the new studio is fantastic. The new birch set sounds great with
very little tweaking. Overall the new studio sounds really good
and I'm quite pleased. Sun. was keyboard horn blat's and fx. as
well as some guitar overdubs. So far the last song clocks in at
20:00 long... whew! It takes several twists turns and will
include much political commentary and humor I'm sure. More
guitar overdubs tonight... For those of you who haven't got
"Live at Blairnt Central" You can request your copy by clicking on the CD below:
(Sorry, The Yakima Chimps LIVE at Blairnt Central is currently

new "Blairnt Central" is up and running. The studio needs a
little finishing off but it is running and making music. I've
added a new pair of Event near field monitors as well. Current
work as of 11-10-03 includes some new rocking stuff. Drum work
by Chris Bretz & BP.
Hey
Folks... Lots of stuff going on. Have you ever heard of Kevin
Gilbert? No? Well, you should. He's a Grammy Award winning musician,
producer, mastering, mixing and songwriting wizard. He's worked
with and for everyone, Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow, Eddy Money and
Spocks Beard just to name a few. A year or so ago I covered one
of his songs and recorded it for my wife. Recently I submitted
the song to Kevin's web site so you can hear it at www.kevingilbert.com
just go to the mp3 covers link and click on Bill Pitts "When you
give your love to me". You should really check out Kevin's music
and the rest of his web site, you will be impressed. A true Talent.
Miss ya Kev.
